Everyone wants your attention. What is it costing you?

The endless scroll is easy to enter and hard to leave. Here is a reason to pause.

The price of always being available

An interesting video becomes another video. A quick check becomes a longer visit. By the time you put the phone down, the task you meant to start feels further away. The cost is not only time; it is the difficulty of returning to something that requires patience.

Ask what you came for

Entertainment deserves a place in life. A song, a joke or a great story can make a difficult day lighter. The useful question is whether you chose the experience or simply continued because another item appeared. Before opening a feed, name what you want from it.

Give your attention a destination

Choose one thing you want to finish before your next browsing break. Put the phone beyond easy reach and give that task a short, uninterrupted window. Afterwards, notice how you feel. Treat this as an experiment in choice, rather than a test of willpower.
